1/12/2022 Principal email message to parents:
Dear Pattie Families,

We've begun the new year with more bus delays, due to driver shortages, than we've seen the first few months of school. While this is just as frustrating for our staff, we must understand that these are likely the circumstances we'll be facing for the remainder of the year.

Because of the bus delays, we've also seen an increase in the number of families that are picking up their child(ren) at the end of the day. There are a LOT of moving parts at dismissal, and for the safety of all children, we must be extremely careful not to disrupt our dismissal process. Because of this, we have a school policy that we do not release students for dismissal after 2:30pm. While I understand that these circumstances are different, we do need to establish some guidelines.

We will continue to do our best to inform families when there are bus delays, but please know that we don't always hear about delays until we are well into our dismissal process. If you are informed that a bus will be delayed, we ask that you wait until 3:15pm to pick your student up. Please know that if you are on your way to pick up your child, there is a risk that the bus has already left, and your child may already be on his/her way home.

As another option, families may also consider registering your vehicle and having your child dismissed through our Kiss & Ride (car rider) line. If you would like to register your vehicle, please stop by the office during school hours. Please also inform your student's teacher of the change in dismissal procedures. If you intend on driving your student to school, or already do, it is our suggestion that you avoid making left turns out of the school. This backs up traffic and significantly slows down our car rider lane.

I will be asking our families for additional input and solutions at our upcoming Principal's Advisory Council meeting on January 18th, where anyone is welcome to attend (details in our most recent newsletter). You may also contribute alternative ideas or solutions through our Pattie Proposal Page, which can be found here: https://forms.office.com/r/L80Syy8kF5

As always, thank you for your continued patience and your partnership as we continue to navigate these unprecedented times.

Sincerely,

RJ Lucciotti Principal
